A New Initiative
Our Chapter has participated in the DAV/VA Transportation Network for YEARS. When Covid hit, all vans were parked, for over 2 years. Even when the vans were running, the veterans in our community could only be transported to the main VAMC's (Atlanta or Asheville).

We set out to gain full control over our van. We paid for it; we wanted control. A 3-year battle ended with our van being delivered and the keys handed over. What a battle though. A feat only successfully completed by one other Chapter. The old wrap was destroyed, but we worked hard to raise the funds to get it re-wrapped.

The van has been re-wrapped and we're developing our new transportation program and will be transporting veterans to ALL their appointments, including Community Care visits and private doctor's appointments.
A BOLD undertaking! We hope to launch early 2025!

We set up a booth at numerous fairs, festivals, and other events. While we do graciously accept donations, we look to ENGAGE the community in conversation. Talking to a frustrated veteran, or spouse, and offering our support makes the drudgery of sitting in a booth for 8 hours totally WORTH IT!

When I say we have the BEST service officer I've ever seen, I mean it. I refer veterans and widows to my top Service Officer, Charlie, several times a week. Charlie knows the VA inside and out, and if he doesn't know the answer, he knows who does. Our Service Officers don't charge for anything they do. It's all free.

- We are able to accept one-time, as well as monthly or yearly reoccurring donations.
